Ecological Route of São Miguel dos Milagres

Located a few kilometers from Maragogi, in Alagoas, São Miguel dos Milagres is a destination that enchants with its simplicity, natural beauty, and tranquility. This small town is a true paradise for those seeking peace and quiet by the sea.

Among the main attractions are the natural pools formed at low tide, accessible by rafts, where it is possible to snorkel and observe colorful fish among the coral reefs. Toque Beach, Riacho Beach, and Porto da Rua Beach are some of the best known and most admired in the region.

The village still retains a rustic and authentic atmosphere, with charming inns, local cuisine rich in seafood, and the characteristic hospitality of the people of Alagoas. For those who enjoy cultural and religious experiences, the Church of Saint Michael the Archangel, the patron saint of the municipality, is also a traditional place to visit.

Legend has it that the Miraculous Fountain, formerly known as the Well of Miracles, was discovered shortly after the Dutch incursions. The story goes that a fisherman found a piece of wood covered in moss and algae on the beach. Returning home, he decided to stop at the first water source he found to clean the piece. The location was exactly where the Miraculous Fountain stands today, right in the center of the municipality. It was then that the fisherman discovered it was a sculpture of Saint Michael the Archangel, being cured of a serious health problem.

Above the Miraculous Fountain, it's possible to have a panoramic view of the city of São Miguel dos Milagres. At the top of... Morro do Cruzeiro, also known as Mirante dos Milagres, is a perfect spot to admire the vastness of the sea and the striking contrasts that frame the city.

In São Miguel dos Milagres, nature takes center stage: coconut groves, cliffs, mangroves, and preserved biodiversity make the place a true ecological sanctuary. The location is, without a doubt, one of the hidden treasures of the Brazilian coast—where every visitor can find a small miracle by the sea.
